1970 Jeep Cj-5.
Color - Red
$4495
This jeep belonged to a friend who had it at his cabin in the Eagle Caps near Baker City, Oregon. It was primarily his wife’s vehicle. Both are now retired and we brought it to the “big city” Portland to sell. I am not an automotive guy, so I had the jeep taken to a jeep specialist, Scott LaPlante at Sherwood Auto (sherwoodautorepair.com) to check out. Scott found the Jeep to be in very good condition, runs great, with LOTS OF POWER.
Here is Scott’s summary of the vehicle:
“Built by Kaiser Jeep corporation Toledo Ohio. It is an 81 inch universal civilian Jeep. The 225 Buick V-6 is a factory option. The engine had 160 horsepower stock and the engine that is in this Jeep has had some work to it, including an aluminum Offenhauser 4-barrel intake manifold and headers. According to the tag on the differential cover, the gears are 3.73:1 ratio and limited slip in the Dana 44 rear differential. The front differential is a Dana 27. Dual circuit drum brakes and Warn hubs. The transmission is a Borg-Warner T-14, synchronized in all forward gears. The transfer-case is an offset Dana Model 18. The frame and tub are in good shape and have not had any poor repair. The dual tanks and switching valves are a very nice plus that greatly extend its usable range. “
I one thing I noticed was the clutch releases very fast. Scott says its just “rust” from lack of use and will diminish when the Jeep is run more often.
The bottom line is I need to sell this Jeep (taking up to much room in my garage). The first $4495.00 takes it.
