For a terminal knot use this Palomar. Its fast, easy to tie & never breaks with 30/40 lb. PowerPro

PP to a mono leader go double Uni.

Every reel I have spooled with braid is finished with a Bimini Twist so that I have a doubled section of line to tie the terminal knot... either a Palomar or a Rivers Inlet Knot finished ala fNp. That gives me a 100% connection with two intact strands going to the terminal snap/swivel with no tag ends to trim.

Every one is probably familiar with the Palomar, but here's a demo pic of the finished fNp knot tied in heavy mono to better illustrate the knot's architecture.

The San Diego know is great, especially for heavier lines, but it can be a pain unless you have a way to anchor the lure or hook while tying it.

Docs system looks great, but the simple Palomar is nearly 100% and a lot less work. Palomar is hard to use with big lures or double hook set-ups.

SD Jam knot is a great cold weather/cold hands knot!! Easy to tie vertical by dangling lure at bottom and gripping top loop in fore finger and thumb and simply take your wraps around double line with other hand and run tag end back up through bottom and top loops and give it a pull to tighten..We nicknamed it our "tournament knot" for our jig or crank casting rods cause its quick to tie in all conditions and holds up well..try it vertical with liberal line rather than horizontal, its a quick one..

i use this knot to connect a braid shocker leader. the mono needs to be 20# minimum. i suggest the braid be doubled to prevent the mono from being split or choked.

braid to swivel......trilene knot, burn the end....I will pit this knot against any other for this purpose. Have broken braid before the knot. Anybody want to test, I'll send a couple samples.

i prefer a uni with 5 or 6 wraps when tying braid to swivel. it's a great knot for tying mono to a something with a large eye as well.

A simple Palomar or SDJ is definitely the quicker fixer upper if I'm in a hurry to get back in the water, and is certainly plenty strong.

Yup my system seems like it's kind of a PITA, but I use it for a specific but very versatile application on all my boat rods that allows me to very quickly switch my gear out between trolling herring with divers or lead balls, anchor fishing kwiks or wobblers, backtrolling diver/bait or plugs, and/or backbouncing bait all with the same basic foundation. I tie the knots ONCE for the entire season, then use a quick change system of snaps to swivels/snaps pre-tied to leaders and droppers.... thus eliminating ALL need for EVER tying knots in the boat for total efficiency while on the water. It's a convenience that most of my passengers take for granted, but when someone breaks a leader and/or dropper or wants to change presentations in the in the middle of a hot bite, it's really nice to be able to instantaneously get back in the game.

This knot system leaves me a 1.5 - 2.0 ft doubled section of braid where my mainline is going to take the brunt of wear/tear from my slider, weeds, sticks, tangles with the dropper, and friction from the tip-top. It really DOES last all season long, so from the standpoint of tying economy, I'm miles ahead by the end of the season compared to retying the whole setup for all of these various presentations.

Actually with a little practice a 40-50 turn Bimini can be tied in under a minute. Some guys advocate a 12-turn Bimini in braid, but in my hands, more turns definitely performs better. The fNp knot can be tied in about 15-20 seconds... a Palomar in about 10 seconds. Not really a whole lot of time invested for a knot system that will last all the way from springers in March to coho in November.
