I'm in the market for a working. good conditioned, original WWII era M-1 Garand. Anyone have one they want to sell to me, or trade for?

Someone has to have one of these babies just sitting in their gun safe taking up space...never being used...and just crying out for a new, and loving owner! laugh

I could just get one through the CMP, but thought I'd ask you all first.

Not my gun but a friends, I was blown away how accurate it was, I shot 1" groups at 200 yds. I would own one in a heart beat but I have not seen a decent one under $1500

I can get a non matching serial numbered Springfield rifle for $500 straight from the gov-ment. Conditions on these rifles vary. I think they strip field them, inspect them, and test fire them, but beyond that, it's anyone's guess as to what you get.

It'd work, but there might be big pits/chunks missing from the wood, offcoloring, heavy use wear and tear, etc.

Don't really want to play the M-1 lottery.

If you want the serial numbers to match, it goes up to at least $1500. Sounds like this is what your buddy has.

WOW
I had no idea that those puppys were worth that much! My dad had one that he put together from extra parts he came across while he was in ROTC many years ago. When he died I sold it to a gun dealer for 400.00. The thing worked fine and was in good shape, but the stock and butt were slightly different colors. That thing sure could shot straight.

If the SN #'s of the receiver and barrel don't match, $500 is about market price. Selling it for $400 years ago is/was a good deal.

the CMP program is asking to get a worn out rifle. just my opinion, however I have talked with them and also seen several buddies get thier "hookup" deals. the rifles are well worth the price in my opinion if you plan to rebarrel and make a good shooter out of them. freds out of north carolina I believe has good goverment issue and new never issued stocks for these rifles. good luck in your quest.

P.S.

advertise or watch the military classifieds like the navigator since alot of my fellow marines/sailors spend the dough and then get orders so they often sell cheap.
