King County has put up a sign at the Plum launch warning of a log about 1.5 miles downstream. According to the King County person who put the sign up a boater flipped his boat yesterday on the log, got sucked under, but fortuneately came out on the other side. He said the boat is still there.

Looks like a big maple went over (and there is probably more that are going to go in) accross from the Golf Course. Below is a link to an article about it. The King County person said they are looking at removing it.

I saw a lot of boats headed down early this morning. So maybe someone might have more to add. Just thought I would give anyone planning a float a heads up.

Have a happy and safe New Year!

Maybe someone can put a flag/marker on the hazard.

GPS coordinates of hazards would be nice too.

Floated from Plum's to Richter's yesterday (Wednesday) and did not see this... it must have fallen after 12 noon or so.

We floated plums to fall city yesterday...maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention, but I didn't see the warning sign in the morning. I did however see it as I drove up to plums at the end of our day. I can't say I saw any new downed trees...I can only assume that the obstruction is that downed timber at that big drainage pipe, that tree that crosses half the river has been there for years. Anyway, no swamped boat there that I could spot. Still, heed every warning and always stay super alert...you never know what could happen. I would like more details if anyone got info.

Mebee so, but why are the anglers who are so quick to bitch about the lack of fish among the first to further degrade fish habitat by removing large woody debris that increases habitat productivity and capacity? Besides, floating rivers involves some risk. Why are fishermen so keen on making a river as flat and featureless as a freeway? So they can bitch about the lack of habitat quality and lack of fish? Stupid is as stupid does.

By the Pic and description I'm thinking Clay banks??? Lots of trees exposed last year in the big flood. I was there on Weds all was clear.

I don't remember of any timber in jepardy other than that upper bank on the Clay banks.
