a guy tries to rob an armor car guard.guy knocks down guard. guard shoots guy. guy's family says guard should not have shoot guy because he did not have a gun.
what do you think? would it be different if it was a cop instead of a guard?

Sounds like Momma got a lawyer and he told her about the large sums of cash said Armored Carrier has.

Buddy of mine worked on an armored car. Frequently moved over $3 mil. at a time. I think the guard you speak of was within the duties of his job. Lots of cash to protect...and it's not like the guards wear their weapons undercover. The perp had to have seen multiple weapons hanging off the guy(s), and still tried something? Darwin...

In a situation like this, you shoot first and ask questions last.

People only commit crimes because crime generally pays. If it didn't, they wouldn't.

This does raise an issue however. Why do armored car guards get to shoot people who only want to steal their money. I mean, if the robber just wants the money, and isn't intent on harming the guards, how is protecting money different than me shooting a robber who breaks into my garage to steal tools or fishing gear? The story I keep getting is that I can only shoot burglars who break into my home, where they might threaten me, but that I cannot shoot them if they break into my car or garage or shop, etc. just to steal "stuff." In the latter cases, I'm entitled to call the county sheriff's office, and they'll send out a deputy in an hour or so. Well, if a robber just breaks into an armored car because he's after money, why should the guard be permitted to do any more than call the police, because stealing money, in and of itself, isn't life threatening. fvkin' stupid laws.

If you were in your garage with your motor and the thief jumped on you before taking the motor you could shoot him. Just have to say you felt in danger.

An armored guard I know got shot and killed last year. They need to be able to protect themselves as they are a target of crime.

Sounds like a bogus story to me.

There are a lot of idiots in this world... but ya gotta be extra stupid to try and rob an armored car driven by an armed guard without havin' a gun yourself.

I also get a kick outta how tough everyone tries to sound every time a thread about a supposed crime gets posted here.

If the alleged robber didn't possess a deadly weapon of his own and wasn't threatening the life of the guard directly... I don't think the guard had the right to kill him. If we was... then by all means blast him.

Where'd ya hear this story larry... and where are the rest of the pertinent facts that would allow us to make a more reasonable judgement.
