I also wouldn't discount their ability to suck worse than the Who did at the Super Bowl...I mean, they've sucked far more than the Who for their entire careers.
That being said...a Canadian friend of mine told me yesterday that she heard that Rush was supposed to play in the opening ceremonies, but that someone decided rock music wasn't appropriate after the death of the luger...which is kinda weird, I guess.

NOFX isnt Canadian... They could play but the language / culture gap may be a bit much.
... as far as Rush, every time I have seen them they have been great, unless they have really taken a turn for the worse in the past 4 years the will be much better than the Who was at the superbowl.. that was painful.
