Slash has more soul and groove to his playing. very much plays with his heart.

BH seems to clinical with zero emotion or character. dude can play no doudt. but i don't feel it.

i am of the sort that hates everything that axl rose will ever do. he single handedly destroyed a rock/metal powerhouse band.

Axel Rose was and is a dumbass.

Comparing him to....or even trying to put them in the same league is pointless. There styles are totally different

Buckethead is one of, if not the best the best guitar player ever. I don't know who I could compare him to at this time.

He ROCKS!

Pick your style.

I personally enjoy both of there styles........Depends on my mood at any given time.

I'll take Slash over Buckethead for extended listenability.

In 30 seconds you've heard every warp speed scale and lick that Buckethead knows.

Slash has a more melodic style and knows better when to switch from relaxed to overdrive, IMO.

Buckethead has chops, no doubt... but to me he's a Paul Gilbert wannabe and there's only one Paul Gilbert.

Speaking of PG, here's a shred solo of his from 20+ years ago that I'm sure inspired Buckethead:

I'll take Eric Johnson, Vinnie Moore, Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, John Petrucci and Nuno Bettencourt over Buckethead any day o' the week. thumbs

I'll take Angus, thank you very much.

From 2:30 until the end he'll blister your face off.

I'm with ya KK... McLaughlin was/is definitely the man!

DiMeola's no slouch either... or Paco, and of course we can't forget Alan Holdsworth.

My choices above are from the rock genre.

You ever hear Vince Gill tear up the country licks?

Nobody is the "best", but many are better than others. Which do you prefer?

Slash kicked ass when he played for Michael Jackson.

Bucket head gives the Colonel a bad name....and never closes his mouth.

Both suck a mean D1ck for sure.

Alex Lifeson's one bad power stroker fer sure.

Slash. Buckethead should be reserved for torturing enemy combatants at Gitmo.

David Lindley has been rockin' steel for more than three decades. His song Mercury Blues has to get a nomination for one of the best cruisin' songs EVER!

Early 80s... www.youtube.com/watch?v=tr3Jp_aF1Ok

Late 80s... www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAbbgSKUZB4

2006....... www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFj0fARgdSo

Last video features Jackson Browne and Lindley twenty-four years after the first video was made.

LOL

One of the things that blew donkey cock about 70's & 80's rock was those 20 minute jack-off guitar solos.

The worst part was they all kinda sounded the same-- with some dill-hole with 85 lbs of hairspray dry-humping his axe on stage like he somehow compared to Hendrix. Wash, rinse, repeat, ad nauseam for two decades.

Oddly enough, the best guitar player I've ever seen live was a 5'2" Russian chick, but it's a close call because The Reverend is nothing to sneeze at.
Its a hard call because you're dealing with a single-genre rockabilly guitarist vs a university trained musician that can blur her fingers over the strings playing Gypsy, Turkish, Cossak & E. European folk & American 'Rokenrol' that's been metalled up, and switch straight over to an accordion for the next song, then bang out something on the keyboard that makes your jaw drop all in 20 minutes.

I was just educating some youngsters about Spinal Tap this weekend. I was in shock that these kids had never seen it yet.

Oh yeah, I can only listen to Buckethead for about 1 minute before I get bored or annoyed. My brothers in law talk about BH all the time, all of them have BH as the screen saver on their cell phones. Of course they have either been: on probation, had warrants out, in jail, on unenployment, in rehab or at church ever since they turned 18.
