I have been told that in order to use a particular phone with my service through U.S.Cellular, that I have to buy a phone with their software in it...and I have also been told that I can use any ol' cell phone, provided I put the "sim card?" from my phone in it.............AND I have also been told that U.S.Cellular phones don't have removable "sim cards", so obviously I am a little confused and a lot uneducated.

I need a "new" phone, would prefer something like my old Razor V3M, but think the prices at Us Cellular are crazy...am thinking the used market is where I'm headed, but am seeking advice/info.

UsCellular does not have it's own software in any phone, they only accept Code Divisional Multiple Access (CDMA) type-phones locked to their network's System Idenitification Code (SID) and System Operator Code (SOC). They also have a Electronic Serial Number (ESN) list where your phone's ESN must be listed on to be accepted by the US Cellular switch when you try to make a call.

It's a scheme to make you buy their high priced POS crap phones.
Try a different carrier.

Your carrier SUCKS.

I'd go Verizon or AT&T.

I have AT&T only because I have an iPhone.

Sprint blows monkey cocks too. Last time I had them I fought with their phonebot customer service for two hours before I smashed their crappy flip phone against the hearth.

Thanks for the help, I was considering Verizon if I have to sign a new contract.

I tried an iPhone on AT&T, not good coverage in the areas I'm usually in. Might have the "out of contract" 32gig iPhone for sale if anyone is interested...

Those Droids are so good, they send everything twice... just in case. wink

LOVE my iPhone. Being a loyal Verizon subscriber for years, I will say that AT&T has been WAY better than I expected.
