I think he did the right thing, beings he recruited most, if not all the Thugs now facing criminal charges.

Started as an Arizona Wildcat, my sis was an Arizona State Sun Devil, Cousin Kenny was an OSU Beaver. What kind of mascot is that, a beaver? I have been a WSU Cougar (Go Cougs!), and a Vandal (U of Idaho). I worked for 13 years at the U of Oregon (got exactly ONE free ticket) and both of my kids are Ducks. Talk about conflicted! But, my undergrad and grad degrees are from U of W.

With Belotti gone, does Phil Knight get to run the athletic deparment all on his own now?

I don't know much about the recruiting side at U of O, sounds like you do. Rick Neuheisel kinda set the standard for the west coast.

The Register-Guard doesn't do any digging at the U of O so not much written about Oregon recruiting. I have not read anything particular about Belotti.

The current Duck antics are reminiscent of the University of Miami a couple of decades ago.

Phil Knight has thrown so much money at the U of O that it is a completely different place. There's the Knight Law School, the Knight Library, the Knight basketball palace, the Jaqua (Knight)Athletic Library, the Autzen remodel, the Casanova complex, etc, etc. There's no doubt about the influence. Might as well change the name to Knight University. He strong armed then Pres. Dave Frohnmayer, forced out Bill Moos as AD, and no doubt both the next AD and basketball coach will be strong Nike supporters.

And what would make you think that's not what's been going on for a number of years now?
Phil is calling all the shots, including what is transpiring now.

I always thought Belloti was a stand up guy....It's not easy keeping thugs in check, as the new coach is finding out.
