I asked the service guys about it, and they pointed me to the salesmen. The trouble with that is that salesmen will feed you pie-in-the-sky BS all day long just to make a sale.

My biggest beef so far is that from what I can tell, the trash can sized tail pipe (check it out: it's really a 12" wide or even greater pipe) gives you a dinky-ass spare tire, which if you've ever had to change a tire while hauling a load puts you in a shaky spot. If Im hauling my camper and towing my boat and I blow a tire going over a pass, I'm not ready to trust my family's safety on some half-assed Red Flyer wagon wheel to get me 250 miles to the nearest tire joint.

Good point on the spare. With all the thought placed into to this motor what are they thinking with a undersized spare? Please tell me they left enough room for a full sized spare in the carrier. This is Fords third different design in 7 years. Whether they have done extensive testing or not, doing it in a controlled atmosphere is nothing like the real world. Put 20K behind the truck and tow it for 200K and then see whats happening. I for one would be leery of buying a first year model in any design.

That being said I don't think you can go terribly wrong with any diesel built today. They all have certain issues and always will.

good luck

Damn.

I asked him to go sneak over and look at spare ... he said the truck in the show has full size spare.

Good to know. Now we just wait and see how it performs IRL.
