Since many of you have made the mistake of being helpful to me in the past couple months, I would like to ask for one more tidbit of Grays Harbor info.

Do any of you know if there is an Asian market in Aberdeen/Hoquiam? I bought some beautiful ahi steaks last night, and I would really, really like some wasabi to go with them (the fresh stuff that comes in a ball, as opposed to one of the watered-down, overall poor substitutes that are easier to find).

I found one place called Asian Grocery in Hoquiam on Google, but I got a fast busy signal when I tried to call them. Does anyone know if they are still around, when they are open, etc.? If not, is there another place I should try? I know a couple of places in Oly, but I want to try and find it in Aberdeen or Hoquiam, since I plan to go clam digging this afternoon, and that would be very convenient. Also, I do like to spend my money locally when I can.

I am going in with realistic expectations here, but I am hopeful....

there is a place across from the old timberline motel, right before you leave hoquiam heading north on 101. that sounds like the one you called.

I know you're all on pins and needles, so here's an update: I located wasabi (in the powdered form) at the Market Place, near Michael's Meats. The guy I talked to on the phone said he suspected I would need to mail order the fresh stuff. Looks like I may have to resign myself to using the powder. Should still be pretty good....
