Charlotte NC ran the inaugural 4 wide nationals this past weekend.

TV does a HUGE disservice to this event.
The ground shaking rumble, the fumes, the mind numbing acceleration.
When the NHRA drags come to the Seattle area this summer, some of you guys have got to go.

That would be awesome. 32000 h.p. shaking the ground. I missed the finals turned it on last night just in time for the rain to start. I hope they replay it so I can watch tonight.

My kid had the same thought while sitting in my buddy's boat several years back....

Wow, Ya gotta be there to really appreciate it though. I love the cackle and smell of those nitro burners. Smells like gun powder.

That used to be the only resort at the lake that my friend was allowed to launch that beast at.
He raced several boats in the alcohol hydro division and was very successful for a small operation.

He was offered a ride in a nitro boat.
He tested it and was overwhelmed with the completely unruly handling and the over the top horsepower.
That's coming from a guy that did 230 mph on the water!




He has a family and after splintering his boat at the Red Bluff nationals, he wisely resigned from the sport.
Alcohol engines produce crazy amounts of horsepower.
Nitro is well....indescribable.



Nitro and water don't mix well.

i`d like to see them get rid of that chase format like nascar has and get back to normal and also start running the full 1/4 mile again.

Big NHRA fan and love the Northwest Nationals! The four wide was pretty cool and will be even better once the drivers get the blue lights figured out.

I know almost every racer in that video. And Ive ridden in a few of those boats. I played Navigator in the yellow #13 at the end of the video.

No peeing blood after.......... Just make sure you have belts cinched down TIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, Jumping in a race early in the morning is the fastest way to cure a hangover. 8 hours from bottle to throttle, Sure.............
