Speeding Crackdown Starts Friday In Washington

SEATTLE -- The Washington State Traffic Commission is announcing a statewide campaign against speeders called "Slow Down or Pay Up."

Police and Washington State Patrol officials will discuss details Thursday at a news conference in Seattle.

Extra patrols will start Friday as part of a state traffic safety plan.

The commission says speeding is one of the three leading causes of traffic fatalities on Washington roads, along with impaired driving and not using a seatbelt. And speeding is a leading killer of teens.

Already got the memo on Sunday. Pulled out of my driveway, went 100 feet and as I snapped on my seat belt was pulled over and not so politey told.

I already contributed $189 a couple weeks ago. School zone. I know, I know, but I always slow down when kids are out there, but they have the light blinking 2 hours before and 2 hours after the kids go to and from school.

Started down my way last week, noticed the boys in blue out in force.

Wish the county would pay a little more attention to the road I live on. I have at least 1 or 2 dimbulbs a month fail to make the corner in front of my house in the wee hours of the morning because they're hopped up on mouthwash and think they're some kind of rally driver.

One particualr dimbulb stuffed his Jetta in the ditch in front of my house with his car doing a few cartwheels. He managed to crawl out and avoid detection. When the Sheriff showed up with the K-9 the dog pulled straight for the river. Officer came back and said the moron must have swam across the river,...........in January.
