Still haven't finished it, but I am very close to completing this feeder. I need to add some weight to the foot plate, maybe 6-8 oz or so, so that it will be an easy step to lift the plate. It is pretty big. My guess is that it will hold about a 50# bag of food, maybe 3/4 of a bag. Anyway, had a few time issues that got in the way, but I have the engineering done. Just need to make it a bit more high speed, low drag, and it will be ready.

It takes a 4'x4'sheet of 1/4" plywood, one 6' cedar fence board, some scrap 2x6, and a few screws, nuts and bolts. Certainly worth $279.

Um Andy. The chickens called me last night. They would like some chicken time. I'm sure the wife is happy that you spend all your time in the yard but the fish miss you.

I was going to go fishing this weekend, but my buddy's Grady is having engine issues. Someone is actually paying me to build that, so I am mocking up the design before I build the actual one I'm selling.

I may take the boys on a float Saturday or Sunday, or go shooting. Not sure yet.

I had plans on taking Brent fishing Sunday. He's been begging to fish. He also signed on to a tourney team for baseball.....first practice Sunday when we are supposed to fish. He is choosing practice. Fail!

Feed will however push the plywood outward and the grain will seep past the ramp. I might suggest an apron or trim wood to block the feed. You could also look at a square kitchen trash can to reinforce as well as funnel the feed through a slot in the bottom, or series of holes. If the feed tends to pack down and tight, might want to employ some separators such as addition ramps (vision pinball machine) in opposite direction to break up the bulk of the weight packing down on one section. That way the feed is always waiting to fall instead of building up in the corner.

Last weekend the river was really puking mud and whole trees.

I may float this weekend.

No point in attempting it Andy it will be puking mud and whole trees for the next month or so........

Had a friend stop by the other day. Showed him around the house and such. He saw the feeder, so I showed him how it worked, and filled the feeder.

A few hours later I was cleaning the office and I heard this "click.....thump. Click..........thump." coming from inside the shop.

I looked out of the office door, and my hen turkey was stepping on the treadle, while she and the tom ate. First time I put food in it, and the first time they saw it with food. Turkeys are smarter than you think.
