yes you can, but look at the weight of the camper, and if your towing something just make sure the weight of the camper and what your towing doesn't exceede the max weight easy to do on a 1/2 ton, when carring a camper, (my experiance) a 3/4 ton is recomended by the time you load it with all the gear your close to the max capasity anyway's, i've seen it done but i wouldn't do it, just my 02 worth Doug

It'll help if you make sure to get an oil cooler and air bags, they help alot.

Maybe look at some of the light weight campers. I have a shortbox GMC 1/2 and put a Polomino Pop Top camper on it. It only weighs 900lbs, and is under 7'6" when closed. Save me a bundle on excessive height ferry fees. I did install airbags on it though because I tow a driftboat with a motorcycle strapped to the front of the trailer and needed to get the truck level for proper headlight function.

Make sure the camper model is designed for the short-bed, not a std long bed.
