Another case of judicial activism?

If a Boeing plane crashed killing 11 people and causing an evironmental disaster, the feds could (and have in the past) immediately ground all similar jets until an investigation was completed and any problems mitigated.

Why is this different?

It's only "judicial activism" when judges do things that fukk the common man in favor of corporations...so clearly this is not "judicial activism"...

This shouldn't help the drillers case.

The halting of drilling was a knee jerk reaction, and all politicians are a-holes. Both R & D politicians make these decisions.

Until someone can convince me that we can get a very real percentage of our energy needs from deep-water drilling, I'm 100% onboard with the moratorium. The insane, and impossible to estimate costs ($$$, environmental wreckage) this single accident has left in its wake is enough to cause me to pivot.

More and more wars will continue to be fought over energy -- and I view our energy needs as our #1 national security issue. It creates a lot of our current issues and will create more in the future.

We must must must get self sufficient and IMHO until we get serious about something other-than-oil, or until we figure out how to extract 50%+ of our own energy needs from our own reserves, we're going to have problems.

This whole moratorium is beginning to look like a stunt, anyway.

If Obama Really wanted to stop drilling, why didnt he issue an Presidential Executive order, instead of a very weak Moratorium notice?

Do you folks even know how the moratorium was issued?

I looked into this, and it was actually a Moratorium Notice to Lessees issued by Salazar. Was this adequate under the circumstances?
Is Obama really trying to strong hand this issue and take it by the balls, or did he issue the moratorium knowing it was weak, would be challenged, and ultimately fail?

All Obama has to do is put pen to paper and start with....
