My frined has a couple of new guns we want to shoot and I am headed to Banks Lake for the 4th. On Google Earth I see lots of scrub land at northwest side and at southwest side. Does anypne know if this is public land? If so is shooting allowed? It looks like a great place to pull up in the boat and shoot toward tall bluffs.

The SW side is good to go. There are some birds there to get Tye excited as well.
Don't know about NW.

Hey Dave, I think some of the westside is private, there are lots of cows that roam around. Most of the public places on the westside of the lake will be taken by boat campers on a busy weekend. There are several feel free to hunt areas on the eastside, you could probably shoot at these places.

Careful with Tye if he hasn't been around things that go *bang* yet. Breeder friend uses a starter pistol at a distance before their eyes are open, then closer until they are weaned, letting them smell it before food is presented. Never had a shy one come Fall....
