Toys 'R' Us Stocks Serial Killer Doll
Toy Collector Complains About 'Dexter' Action Figure
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A toy collector in Ohio is upset with Toys "R" Us for selling a serial killer doll.
The action figure is based off the "Dexter" TV show, which is about a serial killer who kills other murderers. The doll even comes with a handsaw and bloody gloves.
"And I thought, 'Oh my god! You've got this in Toys 'R' Us? Are you kidding me?'" Jim Schultz said.
Schultz complained to Toys "R" Us, which told him a small number of the dolls had been ordered to accommodate the store's "avid action figure collector customers."
That didn't sit well with Schultz, who said those collectors can find the Dexter doll in a more appropriate store.
"I understand it's marketed towards adults," he said. "But I do condemn Toys 'R' Us for putting it on their shelves in the same store where you can go buy Barbie, and Kermit, and Elmo."
A Toys "R" Us spokesman said the action figure has been on the shelf for a couple weeks, and Schultz's complaint is the only one the company has received.
He also pointed out the package is clearly labeled ages 18 and up, and not intended for children.
Schultz said he hopes Toys "R" Us reconsiders stocking such action figures in the future.
