I am in desperate need for a good winch for my toyota pickup.I can't afford a new and was hopping somewould have one laying around for a reasonable price.........

Have you thought about a heavy come-along, or one of the high-lift jacks that can be turned into a 5' pull winch? I used both of these in my 4 wheelin past. Usually when you get stuck you only need a few inches of movement to get you going again. Cheap insurance.

I have a good high lift but didn't know i could use it as a winch. Could you give me the details...

Here's a link to download the instructions for a hi lift. On page 12 it shows how to turn the heel around and use it as a winch. It will require carrying some chain or cable with you that won't stretch.

yes. Great winches wouldnt own anything else

I love my 8274 Warn! Just keep an eye out for one
on craigslist. I think I spent $200 for mine, and then I had it rebuilt,and added new stainless cable.

I had a Warn M10000 on my Bronco.

It was absolutely amazing. when it wasnt pulling that POS Bronco out of snow-filled ditches, it was a mule around the yard, pulling stumps, dragging logs, ripping up bushes, etc. Even the neighbors used to come over and ask to have me put it to use for them.

PS-When respooling your cable, wear good gloves and keep your hands away from the rollers. A snag on the cable buried itself into my hand once and almost pulled it into the spool. It was bad enough getting my hand torn nopen, glad my arm didnt get wound up as well.
