I haven't seen any postings about using catchcam cameras from the people that own them. Is anyone besides myself using one? I found that it is hard to use one when you are trolling alone. To much to watch at one time. When I mark fish with my depth sounder and anchor I do use it. I have found that it is fun to see what else is down there besides fish. So far 1ea new fishing pole, hook, line and sinker from American Lake.

Inteesting. Are you able to store images for download later? If you can get a few good pictures of images I'll post them.

I bought the Catchcam 1 and it sends the picture to the viewer upside down. At this time I haven't figured out how to tape these, but I will. Catchcam does make a smaller one that you can tape from.

I bought my camera from:
Westac Tackle Co.
Phone#: 253-589-8690
Email: WestacCo@aol.com

I dealt with Marc M.'s wife Roe. I think that it was $487.16 with tax.

I rented a video a number of years back where this guy in Canada hooked a camera up to his downrigger, the one attached to his boat. Anyway, he shows how kings and silvers reacted to different lures, baits, and scents. The plug cut herring soaked in bildgewater and oil actually got more hits than the straight bait. I have seen some fishing shows where these guys used a similar unit to help ice fish as well. Seems pretty interesting for the curious, but what use it it? Sure you can see the fish, but you still can't make them bite unless they're hungry. If I am wrong, let me know how you use it to improve your fishing. Now people will talk about the one that almost bit, but got away smile.

I can't think of anything much LESS sporting than using a camcorder to spy on the fish.
Has it occurred to anyone that the satisfaction of learning to be a good fisherman is a big part of the enjoyment to be found in the sport??
You should be learning to recognize where the fishes find their food and how to simulate the food items to catch them, not spying on them with a camcorder.SHeeesh! :p

Have you ever had your depth sounder show fish near the bottom of the lake and you try everything you have to get them to bite, but they won't? The reason that you can't catch anything is that they are not the type of fish that you are fishing for or what you are marking is leaves or trash. With the catchcam you can see what you are marking. Also it is interesting to see what is down there. smile

That sounds good. You can see if they are in their beds and decide if you want to try to wake them up or let them stay in bed. :p
