Go to CNBC and look for TV shows and special programs.

They show police video of the gun miss fire and then going off when the operator touched the bolt.

bad news.

I'm interested in buying some of these "defective" M700s if the price is right...

I find it hard to believe that Remington released defective firearms.

I'd give a $100 bucks per "defective action".

I bet the US military snipers for the last 35+ years feel foolish....

I have mine set around 2.5, factory has them pretty heavy.

I agree, someone screwed up on the setting. There has to be more to this.

Where do we buy these "faulty guns". I want a load of them.

A radio news report yesterday said that Remington has thought several times about doing a voluntary recall. Does that imply that Remington thinks that a significant percent of the rifles have a problem?

Possibly Remington thinks there is a significant amount of people who could mess anything up. These triggers have been working for a long time, finally the lawyers have found something else to ruin...

I just "upgraded" the 700 7mm-mag that I inherited from my Grandpa. I stripped everything off minus the barrel/trigger.

I slapped on a McMillan composite stock, slapped on some Talley's, put on a Loopy FX-3 6x42, and had the Loopy boys put on a M1 elevation turret.

She'll reach out and touch ya at 700 or so yards. wink

If any of you want to sell your "defective" 700, just let me know.

Shooting beyond 100 yards is dangerous and unsportsman like.

My model 700 LH has been the chit, just downed my buck last night and that was after watching CNBC the night before on the trigger issues.I'd be glad to pay the $75.00-$100.00 to have them fix the issue for safty reasons, but until they offer it up I'll just keep pointing it @ the ground when taking the safty off or @ a buck.Last nights shot was from only 120' away, neck shot the guy didn't move.Same with last years buck only 50' away.Good luck,
SZ

SZ----I believe for $20 plus shipping they will inspect and replace your trigger if they deem it unsafe. Otherwise they clean and inspect it and return it.

I know what you mean it's kind of a PITA but pretty much all big companies do the recall warranty work. Liability I suppose.

You could just put a good aftermarket trigger like a Timney or Jewell and have a sweet adjustable, crisp trigger rather than messing with a factory job. Install it yourself or have a smith do it for you.

Very easy to remove and disassemble the factory trigger. At one time these rifles came with trigger adjusting instructions, there is plenty of info online for those interested. IF you must upgrade to an aftermarket trigger it is a simple matter to swap them out, and your old factory trigger is definatly worth a few bucks on the used market.
