I have inherited a gun from my late uncle, my choice is either a Browning BAR .243 a 6.5 Rem or a .25wssm. I have a 300 RUM but need a good deer rifle, which would be my best bet? I am leaning towards the .243 but I dont know much about the other two calibers except they are hard to find and expensive to buy ammo for.

unless you want to get into the reloading game the 243 I would think is the way to go. If ya ever have kids I can't think of a better deer gun for not knocking the snot out of a beginer. Drake and Alie are 5 for 5 with our old model 70 243.

semi 243 sounds like a fun gun for song dogs too.

My choice would be the 25 short mag. It`s probably the newer gun as that caliber hasn`t been around long. I hand load so ammo wouldn`t be a problem. The .243 semi auto would be my second choice, bet it wouldn`t kick at all. Bill

.243. Nice to have a gun that will do double duty on deer and coyotes.

I'd take that BAR, .243 ammo is easy to find & Browning autos are fine rifles. Hornaday factory ammo in 75 grain HP for varmits, & Remington 100 grain cor-lok's for deer are my off the shelf choices.

But then I reload, so I can whip up about anything for my .243

Guessing by caliber the other 2 are most likley bolt guns will be spendy to shoot if your a non-reloader.
