I am going to Chelan late this month. Is 8LB line suitable for some of the Lake Trout that can be had over there????? Any info would be appreciated! cool

I would go with 10 to 12 lb line just in case you hook one with some size to him!!

I just got back from Chelan. We hooked one fish that we lost. frown
We used 15lb line off a downrigger at 160 feet deep. Thats where you find em. (I guess anyway - we only had the one fish).

8lb would probably be fine on the right rod and reel setup.

For example, an experienced angler can take a 15lb steely on 4lb line with about a 10ft noodle rod (and not play it until it's about dead!!).

Are the fish you are targeting line shy? Will you be using a down rigger (sounds like you'll need to)?

If you do go with lighter line, just make sure you have your spool set up with enough line and your drag in good working shape...
