I am considering taking my rod up into the mountains via trail and such in the next month or so. I am also considering bringing a float tube and gear on an extended back pack later this summer.

I am looking to the folks who have done this before. I am a ex-hike and backpack leader with good backcountry skills and sensibilities. Let's just say that I took a sabbatical from hiking, and would like to combine that with some high country fishing.

You should consider the "Hi-Lakers" fishing club. I am fairly new acquisition to the group, but they meet monthy at the Mercerview Community Center on Mercer Island. Contact Bill Henkel at billhenkel@juno.com to get involved or feel free to show up. Meetings are the 3rd Wed. of each month and dues are a "whopping" $10.00 to join.

Members range from 21 years up and go into their senior years. We work in cooperation with the DFW to report on the remotest of high country lakes to those most accessable. Each meeting provides a wealth of knowledge which can be supplimented with conversations with the members. The snow pack is pretty high up right now, so most of the lakes are accessable for CT, RB, GT, and Arctic Greyling (the last being if you are lucky). What I've seen and what a lot of the members are reporting is that many of the lakes without inlet/outlet streams are pretty shrivelled up, though still have populations.
