Loc: Tacoma Wa,
I'm going lake fishing soon, but I need some advice.
On how to catch some winter time trout. I was thinking of trolling and/or still fishing. I'm planning to slow troll a wedding ring / worm combo. Or drifting with the wind with a red wiggler. eek eek

Any tips would be great. laugh laugh laugh

If the surface of the water is cold (below 55 degrees), the fish will be down deeper or close to shore in the shallows sunning themselves. Try drifting Power Bait off the bottom. This would be a good oppurtunity to try Power Bait TURBO. laugh
Heck throw a worm on any lure and you will catch something.

A favorite lure of mine is the frog colored Flatfish.

What lake(s) are you thinking about fishing?

If you don't mind still fishing, a worm-egg combo works good. If there are weeds on the bottom them just put on some weight, a foot and a half leader, and an egg above a half worm on a long shank hook. The worm-egg will lay right on top of the weeds and wiggle around. The egg just adds a little color and scent.
Hope this helps

I kinda agree with Carl except the shallows will be best toward the end of the day if there is any sunlight. If you see them breakin heed the sign. But definately go deep if not. 20-30 foot is a good place to start. Buy a temp gauge and target the thermoclines($5). I hate powerbait, no real reason just that it doesn't really imitate anything real, so i consider it cheating LOL. So i usually fish with a small light yellow or pink/red corkie or swimmer corkie(big enough to float the worm, Spin-n-glos work also but not nearly as well as a single corkie) a #8 hook with a half worm on a 4 foot leader. Then drag it,slow troll, or wind drift it with enough weight to keep bouncing off the bottom. Works awesome and rarely snags.
