I guess I'll give my review of Queensryche.
They have been together for 30 years. They have like 12 albums.
Out of those 12 albums, "Empire" has been the most popular, and for good reason!
The show started out with 4 or 5 songs from Empire, and their other mildly popular albums. These were pretty good, then there was 4 or 5 songs that were off their more obscure and newer albums, and these weren't good.
They closed out the show of course with "Silent Lucidity" before the encore, then "Jet City Woman" and "Empire" during the encore. This was the best portion of the show, and I really had a good time during that portion.
The musicians themselves were very good at their jobs. I mean they had played together for 30 years, they pretty much had it dialed. The lead singer, although wearing a grotesque amount of maskara, and now sporting a bald head, was 100% pitch perfect. His voice was pretty remarkable to tell the truth.
When they finally got to the popular songs from Empire, I was prepared to see them not try very hard, being bored by playing the same songs over and over for 20 years. They did not give any appearance of being bored, and I would say that portion of their performance was very fulfilling, and sounded great.
So, I would give their music itself a C+ on my personal scale, but give them pretty high marks for their performance, talent and effort. Especially for playing in Aberdeen. Although, it may have been like stepping into a time-warp for them looking at the Aberdeen crowd, I was pretty sure many of the folks there had never left 1991.
Then I got up first thing in the morning and watched the Dawgs, which was a great way to start the weekend!
