& moving movies you've ever watched?

Mine:
1. Passion of the Christ- By far! (So much so I just completed reading the Bible start to finish, and I've started all over again)
2. Schindler's List- Thought my teenage boy's were of age to watch this movie last year. And to appreciate not having to live under tyranny of a dictatorship.
3. Gandhi- I was only 14 yrs old when I watched this movie. But it's on my movie to watch again list.

Saving Ryan's Privates Saving Private Ryan in a theater that was 10% filled with older Vets. By far for myself.

I want to see but have not seen the 3 MF listed.
Wish I had a list for sick days but last Saturday was the only flat on my back all day long sick day I have had in the last 8 years.

Schindler's List is a must-see.

Very powerful movie, indeed.

Schindlers list and glory both great. Gandhi was good but long long long.

Gotta say Shawshank redemption was really great flick.

Basketball Diaries for any kid going the wrong way was powerful as well. Made you go yikes and want to straighten up.

Maybe someone can help me here. I don't remember the name but in the early 90's, before I got married, I picked up a foreign film about a group of arabs trying to sneak into switzerland. I remember the plot distinctly as it was very emotional and captured a lot of different aspects of the immigration issues. A group of freinds came over right after I watched it, and I was heading out, I suggested they watch it. When I came back they were steaming mad that I would every suggest a film that was so sad and deep. They could get past the emotion to see the deep insight it provided.

The scene in deer hunter when Walken and De niro are playing the russian roullet was strait up depressing, especially when De niro was puting his hand over the bullet hole in his head to stop the blood.

Damn, where the hell is that prozac?

The beginning of apocalyps now is the best into to a movie ever!!

Love the suggestion of Stevie Ray Vaughan on Austin City Limits. Different kind of powerful than most of what is being discussed here, but as effective as any.

As regards movies, lots of great ones have been mentioned. Anyone out there seen a foreign film called The Tin Drum? It's guaranteed to depress and disturb. Not sure why that came to mind, but nobody else had mentioned it, so....

I know it's off topic, but a 3-minute song can also be extremely moving. I heard a song recently for the first time that had me just about ready to jump off a bridge. (I opted to go home and hug my kids instead.) It's an old song by Ernest Tubb called "Our Baby's Book." It tells the story of how he lost a 7-week old baby boy at some point in his life. The topic is hard enough to take, especially for anyone who has or has had kids, but you can literally feel the pain in his voice.

The 10 Commandments was epic. Now rarely shown, it used to be an annual event.
