Any of you fly afficianados have any suggestions on fly tying books? I am primarily interested in learning how to tie steelhead jigs, basically a wooly bugger, but I think other large patterns would work well. Thanks in advance.
Andy

Andy,
Offer me another pigeon hunt and I'll show you how to tie flies... even jig head flies. I'll some of my tying gear along.
You do know that you're coming over to the dark side.. pretty soon you'll lose the lead head and the bobber... and it will be fly fishing.
One more thing. If you're just doing jigs, then you won't need to pick up a book. If you want to do more... then a book will be very helpful.

Zen: Good to see you are still around! You've been pretty quiet lately - hopefully, do to all your fishing.

Scott,
I'm over on other boards but "lurk"here. Figured I'd let the kids set the tone for this board.

What kind of kids are you talking about. I'm an old kid,but I'm a good one. Right now just a laid up one. Waiting for the ribs to heal before I can get back out. Should be good to go about the 1st of June.

Bill: I always liked the word "lurk", can mean a lot of things. Hope you're catching a few big ones.
Jim: Hope you get healed up soon - bad time to be laid up....

I can do a Sunday pigeon hunt sometime, and would greatly appreciate some expertise. I have flyfished in my past, just didn't buy all of the gear after it was stolen out of my truck. It is fun, though. Thanks for the responses.

Andy,
Let's try it some time in early June. I'm headed back to PA to visit family over Memorial Day and will there a week.
What colors are you looking for? The standard black, for starters???
TM.... are you called "Trout Breath" because of your fish eating skills, your fish catching skills, your fish talking skills... or are you venturing over to the kitty food bowl?

Hey, alla my buddies chatting in one place. Well I'm just back from the wilds of Canada again. Crummy muddy roads, Coooooold nights, lotsa wind, and a fantastic bite at Flyfish #1. Over 60 fish in the two fishable days I lucked into. 20 of them in the 2 1/2 to 4 pound class and good jumpers. Had to fight off an agressive loon that kept circling the raft trying to catch my releases. Finally got him with my oar and you shoulda seen him squalking and getting outa there for the middle of the lake. Never came back. Love Canada, hate that nasty weather up there. Oh, all on black chironomids of course.
