I fished the big lake this morning. Trolled the north side of I-90 and landed two nice cutts and one
large 'bow. I also lost a nice fish and released three shakers. Fishing & Hunting News was right about
the smolt heading out of the Cedar into the big lake and the big trout waiting to ambush them. The
surface of the water around the I-90 bridge seem to boil because there were so many smolt in the
water. I trolled pop gear, wedding ring, and a worm with a two ounce weight down fifty turns of
the reel. cool

I thought the fire was at Lake Union! Anyway, good report Mr. C. Time for me to give it a try. Do you know how deep (approximately) your pop gear set up gets down? I'm trying to guess what depth to run my downriggers at. Always enjoy reading your posts!

Hard to say how deep I was fishing judging from turns of the reel. I would say no more than 30 feet. Today was cloudy so the fish were up high. Tomorrow might be a different story. Those guys using 'riggers this morning were not catching any thing. Start shallow and work your way down. All the smolt are right on the surface.

I will be out there tomorrow too. Look for me, I will be in a 14' tan aluminum with red stripes trolling I-90. cool

CC - Nice fish! I probably won't get out on the lake until late afternoon (Sunday), but will keep an eye out for you in the future. I drive a 19' beige Glasply w/ red stripe. Holler at me if you ever see me fumbling around out there.

Lake Wa is still on fire. I limited out on Cutts Sunday morning. I trolled the north side of I-90 with pop gear, wedding ring, worm, and two ounces of lead.
See the Pix

I could not hold all five fish so I put them in the back of my truck for the picture. smile smile

Ya, I forgot to throw in the tape measure. The smallest was 15", largest about 17".

Don't eat those fish. They have more chemicals in them than the soil from Gas works park. Just kidding. They have only half that much. laugh Nice fish man. Two days in a row on Washington, must have been a miracle to be calm enough to call you back for the second day. Or you just got the itch. BUT since you put in the time and hooked up nicely, i'll bestow my secret for big fat cutts. Those are cutts right? Look like bows to me laugh ...anyways, 8" abe and al,or 6" flasher with a 24-30" leader and a muddler minnow or a 1" or bigger tripple teaser. If you got the time, try it out, and hold on. We need to get out together, fish for some smallies too. Samm also, soon.

Hit the water sun about noon. Did manage a real nice cut about 20 inches. I fished the south side of I-90 bridge.Lost a w. ring on a take down (4lb test) w/ the gang troll. And the other fish was taken on a silver nick-nite. Fished the 20-30 ft on the d. riggers.

On cloudy days, try fishing shallow. I hit most of my Cutts right on the surface on the north side of I-90. I would see the takedown, look to the back of the boat, and see the fish come flying out of the water. It's all good! cool

FYI....Sunday, when I was putting my boat back on the trailer I noticed a lot of smolt right out in front of the boat launch at Sayres, easily within casting distance.
