I fished Angle Lake Saturday and Sunday and was shocked at what i saw. I've fished Angle for many years but these last 2 days were more productive for me than most i can remember.
I put 7 bass and a few perch in the boat on Saturday throwin an inline spinnerbait in 2 or 3 hours of working the north shorline. Today i landed 10 bass 6 rockbass 2 perch and a rainbow tossin 2.5" tubes under the dock and in the weeds on the west and east shores at the dogleg. Both days were descent but while i was workin the shoreline i saw numerous 15-20lb carp, 2-7lb bass, a few 3-8lb catfish and some wierd bright orange 6 or 7lb fish, probably a rogue goldfish. The bass i've seen, but the rest almost made me fall off my boat when i saw them. They were just so dang big and unexpected. Really a big surprise compared to what i've seen through the years. Not the typical Angle. Could this be caused by the late spring conditions? All these fish cruzing the same areas at the same time? I also saw bass on beds, isn't that a little strange?(64F water temp) Could this be a late spawning trend for all of them? This would explain why none of the big fish were interested.
Anyways the fishin there is hot for bass. And the rainbows were jumping so often it looked like it was raining. Anyone else had good luck there recently???
If ya got the time, it would be well worth a shot at any of those 7 species.

The bass(males) will be preparing beds before 60 deg. water temp. The(females) will lay eggs 60 deg. and up, expecialy on a full moon like tonight. Are there a lot of jet/water skiers on this lake. I may have to investagte this lake. How is the water clarity. Gold fish hhmmmmm, How do you cook gold fish, ? what do they taste like,? and how do you get those flakes to stay on your hook?

I've been lurking for a couple of months. So here it goes. Probably the reason you were seeing so much activity in the shallows was because we were in a full moon phase. Over the years I have keep records of the bass activity and the full moon does have a lot of influence to trigger spawning even with the water temp still a little low they will still go thru the motions ( kind of of like foreplay). I have also found that the period just before the fullmoon and shortly after can be sometimes the best fishing, But other influences can affect this such as weather and activity on the lake. I would suggest you plan another trip on the next new moon and the next full moon period as this usally are prime to fish. I'm not an expert just experinced.

LOL basser, i use the handymans tool, duct tape, to hold on those flakes. The water clarity was about 12-15ft. Another reason the fatties may have not been bitin. I had to stay pretty far off shore cuz most of them were pretty spooky. BUT i also sat at the edge of a long dock and flipped the tube out 5 feet from me and they still took it, nothing big though. Also i had a few fatties come right up to the boat and give me the evil eye. As for the spawing info, thanx. Didn't know 60f was the magic number. And like carl said, 8mph. And there weren't too many boats out either. If you go, go before noon. Otherwise you may not find a parking space if you have a trailer, on a nice day.

LB, I agree with your hypothesis. That is the reason why, I believe, fishing on Lake WA was not as good as last weekend. Aren't you meaning to direct your post to FFF? Just checkin'

Dang sounds like you had a good day. Ive never seen any carp in that lake. The water is pretty clear though. I will have to try it. Leaving the boat launch did you just fish on each side of the lake near the docks. I trolled for trout along the left side but never went around the dogleg corner. Are you fishing all the way around the corner on the docks. Thanks. Catch and Release the Bass.

Lookin strait out from the launch i fished the north shore or the left shore. Lots of logs and rockpiles everywhere in about 10-15ft of water. I also went up to the dogleg and stopped on the north corner and there's a point that sticks out about 20-30 yards from shore loaded with piles of rocks and steep drops on both sides. This was a nice spot to work with a tube jig. Carefull it gets shallow quickly. Then i went around the dogleg and fished both west and east shores, the east side being better for hookups but i saw more big fish on the west shore. Again, lots of logs and rockpiles and very little weeds until you hit about 15ft. I fished the south shore and got nothing all the way up to the launch.
I went again on tuesday and put 6 or 7 in the boat and a few rock bass fishing just that point and the west shore of the dogleg. Then the rain came. I may go tomorrow if it calls me back hard enough.
Anyone got any ideas on how to temp these fat bass that are tormenting me? I was thinkin a bitsy bug jig and a small pig is next on the menu, maybe? Oh yeah, ALWAYS catch and release.

I think im going to try it tomorrow. I will try the left side because it sounds like its alot better. I'll let you know how I do. Dont worry, all the fish will be going back to fight another day. I hope I cast alot to the docks and spend less time scanning for spawning bass wasting time. C&R good luck.

I went this morning from like 9:30-1:30. I didnt catch anything. I seen alot of rock bass following but I didnt catch any of them. I did see one spawner right next to the boat launch. When I left the lake I saw 4 kids fishing from shore standing in the water. The kid was standing in the exact spot that bass was spawning so im sure that bed is dead. Around the dogleg on the left side I seen a bass about 4 lb. But I didnt get anything.

Well i got on the water at 930 and went right to the west shore of the dogleg and got nothing on a tube. When i hit the north end of the leg i switched to a fat free shad and worked it in the flats in about 6-12 ft of water and landed 2 10"ers and a nice close to 2lb fish. Then made my way up the east side pitchn' a bitsy bug jig tipped with a black frog and couldn't keep the dam rockbass off. Switched back to the tube and hooked one more Lrgmouth about 10" and 5 or 6 more rockbass. Weeds have grown quite abit since my first post.
