Does anyone know where the best lakes are for Crappie fishing in the state? Obviously I don't live there anymore, but my brother does and we'd like to find the best lakes for the tastiest smile of all panfish. While living in Puyallup, I had success at Ohop lake and also at Tanwax. He's done fairly well at Duck Lake near ocean shores too...anyone? Bueller? Bueller? anyone? confused

Try Eastern Washington for better spinyray fishing.
Like around the Potholes, Moses Lake or Banks Lake

Silver Lake near Castle Rock, Winchester Wasteway and Lind Coulee near Potholes Res..

Lk. Washington has BIGGIES, but are very hard to find, but are usually around the Arboretum somewhere.

Fish on...

Todd.

In addition to all the good suggestions above, Sprague Lake over between Ritzville and Spokane has a lot of big crappies, as well as monster bluegills, perch, trout, channel cats and who knows what all else. With the crappies, the bite is normally just before dark, continuing for a couple hours after dark. The east/northeast end of the lake in about 13-17 feet of water has always worked for me. Use mini- jigs tipped with worm or maggots.

I appreciate all of your suggestions, and I'm sure my brother will too. I will certainly pass on the info...what I found almost exclusively in WA state is the black crappie, although there is a record for the white species too. Down here in OK., all I have are white...i've got to drive east to get the black, which seem to have a little more meat on thier bodies

Fished Tanwax lake in Pierce county today and caught some crappie, no great size to them but another lake to add to your list.

Thanks Mike, I saw your report today for Tanwax...we have had some success there in the past, and my brother tells me he will be heading there this weekend. Man, I wish I knew about this site while I was still a resident! frown Oh well, it will still be useful for my once a year trip back up there. I spoke with a guy the other day that was fishing for the white crappie down here a few weeks back, and caught the end of the spawn. In three hours he had boated over a dozen crappie from 1 to 2.5 lbs eek (plus a bunch of little ones) Fish on! cool
