Hi, Catching a Tiger Musky is not as hard as it sounds. Most are caught on live suckers under big bobbers or set beside the boat while casting spoons or big spinners. Some are caught trolling large wood or plastic Crankbaits like Believers or Jakes. I also make a nice wood bait called a Talon. They are still in the prototype stage and are not ready for production. We look to the weed edges in the spring when weeds are first starting to grow and work the points and backwater bays much like Pike fishing. Tigers usually behave more like Pike preferring colder water than Muskies who will tolerate water temps up to 80 degrees. My biggest Tiger was a 48" february fish from a small inland lake in Michigan. I used a 5" Bluegill for bait on a Tip up thru the Ice. I used 50 lb Mono with an 80 lb florocarbon leader and a 5/0 treble hook. I had to remove the bluegills tail so he could not trip the tip up. This was in 6 ft. of water. The temp out side was below zero. We were in a shanty(ice hut) when He hit the bait 100 feet from the hut. That was a CCCOOOLLLD DAY. Make your sucker about 7 to 10 " and fish him near the boat. Use a quick strike rig and set the hooks hard. Use the spoons and Spinners to make one follow right up to the sucker, works like ten. They will hit the spoons and spinners too but they have a fetish for Suckers. Fishall
