I went to American Lake (Tacoma) on Thursday, it was really fun, even though we didn't catch many fish. We only caught two rainbows, pretty small ones too. I think it was because we didn't get there until 8am, and it was already starting to get hot (this was the day it was like 90 degrees out).

This is a beautiful lake...we saw bald eagles all day, at one point there were like 5 flying over us. Also, what looked like fighter planes, were practicing over us, somtimes 5 or 6 at a time (because McCord Airforce Base is right near there).

The boat launch wasn't too bad, neither were the skiers, I think because it was during the week. As we were leaving (around 12:30), the launch was starting to get busy, but not too bad.

Just wanted to share...

American is like Lake WA. You gotta put some time in before you get anything.

American is really hot in the late
summer! Hit the creek inlet
just to the left of the boatramp
next time. Less skiers and jet ski's too!

I used to hit that lake a lot when I lived near there.
Get the Silvers at the creek mouth mentioned. Stillfish with a sensitive flyrod.
Get the biiiiig rainbows stillfishing in 25-35 feet of
water in front of the old soldiers home.
Avoid the watersporters by fishing early/late and early season.
