I can't stand to have a different prescription for each eye, it just feels like its never right for anything, it also has an affect on depth perception.
When my wife had her eyes done she wanted them to be the same, they made a mistake and did one each way. When they told her after the surgery they said "try it this way you'll like it"....she did and hated it and they had to re-do it. Now several years later she can still see fairly well, but wears glasses about half the time.

Had the work done about 13 years ago and haven't regretted a moment. I do have to wear readers (1.5X) but that is a small price to pay for not having to wear contacts or glasses. I get my check-up every year. Had both eyes done the same.

I have had several lasik surgery. The first was great and worked well in both eyes. Then I got hit by a swivel when I halibut chewed my leader off and had several surgerys on that eye. After Lasik you can see right away, no problem. Valley eye and laser in Renton, Dr. Jones.

Did both and can see like a Mountain Goat And hike up mountains like an eagle? I asked our resident PP eye surgeon about it years ago and he told me for my low-level myopia (under -2.00) that the surgery was not worth the risk. I also noticed that he himself wore glasses/lenses, which I also took into account. Still, the thought of not having to wear glasses or lenses ever again is certainly appealing. Ike

Looking at getting this done as well. ..For those that have had it done, who do you recommend. . .. .and who should I stay away from.. .

Personally I would opt for plano in my distance-dominant eye.... the one you would shoot a gun or camera with.... and -1.00 to -1.50 in the fellow eye to retain reading vision.
Exceptionally important for anyone approaching their mid 40's.
Some residual myopia has its benefits. Youngunner's can't relate because they have no clue what presbyopia is all about. -1.25 still leaves most folks at about a 20/40 level of uncorrected distance vision .... enough to pass a driver's test... enough to navigate a powerboat.... and still read this forum, tie leaders, or wrap a rod. Versatility is a virtue when it comes to the eyes. You can buy a dozen precise specialty rods designed exactly for every technique in the book, or you could choose a couple versatile ones that can capably cover a variety of applications that you are most likely to encounter on a day to day basis. In the eye world, mother nature dictates that your choice of rods is limited to TWO tops. Choose wisely!
Remember, it's not always about 20/20 as much as it is about 20/happy. For those rare unique tasks where your new post-LASIK vision may still be suboptimal, it ain't gonna kill ya to occasionally reach for your specs.

Hey Doc. A bit off topic but related. My eye Dr told me I have macular degeneration. He didn't say so, buy from my research I think it must be the dry type. So, other than the Ocuvite and fish oil what can I do to forstall more symptoms? I'm 66, what are the odds I will be blind before I croak?

I am still undecisive about the mono thing, one eye for distance one eye for mid range, I have surgery planned for April 7th. I will talk with my eye dr again. He seemed to think the mono way was best, but no body I have talked with has had this done. I work with a couple younger guys, and my brother that had both eyes the same and love it I had my eyes done so one could focus up close (right...for focus on the gun sites) and the other for distance (left). I'm right handed and this method is pretty darn cool. I had it done about ten years ago. Had thick lenses since about age five and it was so damn incredible to actually see petals on dandelions out the window (my first test). Have love it ever since. One of the great things is no more fogging up my lenses. Oh, yeah, and the rain on my face....awesome.
