Hello All: I recieved this e-mail and decided to move this over to the forum as it is not a report at all. So you can kick around this issue on the forum. I removed the senders name for confidentiality. Mike ------------------------------------------- Lake: clear lake County: Pierce Date:: anytime
Report::
I have read the reports and rebuttals between the jet-skiers and recreational boaters and truly believe all have lost sight of the real point. Common courtesy should always be followed, as should all laws regarding the use of that area. If a sticker is required to use an area, you should have it on your vehicle regardless whether you consider it to be some sort of riduculous political plot.. If you don't, then you deserve the resulting fine. Next, it is also common courtesy to launch your craft as quickly as possible to free the ramp for others to use. To do anything different is blatant arrogance and those people have no business utilizing public access. Next, boating safety is the most important consideration, and the most common infractions I see committed are by jet-skis and recreational boaters. It's time for all to realize that owning a boat or personal watercraft does not give us a license to be an inconsiderate ass. We all pay for the right to be there, and all deserve the consideration to pursue the purpose for which we are there. Last of all, these battle lines would never have been drawn if all would show common courtesy, and actually follow inland marine LAWS. It's time for people to be held accountable for their actions, and as a general rule if that ever happens, the jet-skiers and inconsiderate boaters will pay the price. If you don't know inland rules or can't follow common sense, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS ON THE WATER!!!

It's funny this topic came up.Just today I went to Goodwin up at smokey point. This lake has a reputation for rude and inconsiderate boaters and jet-skiers. I only fished for 30 minutes because of the traffic on the water,I figured since it was a monday it would'nt be an issue. There were only two boats that were wake-boarding but both boats made numerous passes within 25yds of my boat. If you have never been to Goodwin it's a large lake...about 500 acres. There is absolutly no reason for running that close to another boat anywhere. There is a large sign at the launch stating the rules of the lake. These people must not be able to read because the rules are never followed. The sheriff is at the lake alot but as soon as there gone the recklesness starts up again. The worst I ever saw at Goodwin was when a group of teenage boys were trying to impress the girls at the swim dock. They were in a 20-22ft boat,they would come screaming across the lake and turn real sharp at the last second trying to spray the girls at the dock. It ended with the boat clipping the dock and dumping one of the guys out of the boat. It could have been way worse than it was,and they thought it was really funny! The state really needs to crack down on the unsafe boaters and pwc's.

I guess that is why most of the lakes I go to are 5 MPH waters. I don't have to put up with most of the BS. EXCEPT at the boat launches, the most recent problem was someone with a jet drive backed down the ramp and fired up the engine and sat there with the engine wrapped up, blew a 2 foot hole at the end of the ramp, I had to lock into 4X4 to pull the empty trailer out after he left. Bancock - I tend to agree with you on where I fish. I simply avoid the larger lakes that allow skiing / personal water craft. There are a lot of places that these can be avoided. I do fish Spencer, but that is before Memorial Day when high speed activity is at a minimum. You can always head to moving water - not seen a jet ski on the Yak, Sno Forks, etc. Up at Mason, we actually have a sheriff boat that will cite violators - nice to see!
All of you be safe this weekend!

I was in my little 12 footer on Alder one year and had some dim wit buzz me twice. I grabbed my orange canister of flares and very noticably loaded the pistol when he came by again. I think he got the point that the flare was going to cross his bow if he got too close again. He did not come by again. When I say buzzed, I mean within 50 feet. I was in a little cove fishing, so it was not like I was in the main lake area. There should be a law that you can sink the watercraft of idiots who do stuff like that. At the least they should be charged with reckless endangerment. And tossed in the pokey for a few weeks.
