Today, we had our limit in an hour. We did not even make half way across the lake before we were done. I switched my hooks to florescent pink Gammi's 18 inches off the dodger at 75 feet down and those sockeye would just hammer them. The pink hooks worked alot better than the plain red hooks. Biggest fish today was 8 lbs.

Today is the last day. There are rumors of a fishery next weekend. We shall see.

Easy,
Where did you hear that nasty rumor? I might have to swing Sunday if it is open. Saturday is the Tacoma Outboard Association Derby- big bucks.
Wish I could have made up to LW.... I am bummed- believe me. I had a buddy that fished with a fly rod of a downrigger. He ran a dodger off the ball and put his fly (Euphausid) two feet above that. Straight 8# mono off the reel. Limited and had a blast... Sounds like it!

DR, I heard that "talk" at the boat launch talking to other fisherman. Boy, it seemed like you either limited out really fast or you did not catch any fish at all on Sunday. There were a couple of guys who had not caught any fish at all. I know what that is like.

Hmmm.... sockeye season... hydroplane races... could get real interesting down there at the south end of the lake.

Ya, you ain't kiddin'! If they allow more fishing they will probably put geographical restrictions on the lake. Say, fishing only north of I-90 and south of Seward Park. Who knows. I don't think another fishery will happen just because of the hydros going on next weekend.

Was on the phone today with them and was told they are checking the numbers right now with a lot of things to take into fact. But was told they should open a few more days. If not that many fish to be cought they will open it during the week if there is more fish it will have the weekend in there also. I ran two to three trips a day with limits each trip. My bigest one was 29 inches and 8 pounds. Over all it was a blast.

We did pretty well on saturday and sunday. Like Easy said, some had it good, some got nothing. Saturday we lost atleast 20 fish before we cut the bottom hook off and went barbless. After that i was 8 for 8 and my buddy was 5 for 5. We even added a 2" pink grub. It was like candy to them. Sunday we fished for 3 hours with nothing then hooked 8 and landed 4 in about 2 hours. The evening bite was much slower. We also changed the dodger size from a 00 to a 5". This really cut down on the drag on the fish and let you actually play the fish and let it do some arials for ya. What a blast is all i can say. Hope it reopens. And out of all those fish, only 1 was a male. Anyone else have that same ratio?

Ya know, the state record for Sockeye is only 10lbs 10oz, something to shoot for. Maybe we'll see it broken this year.

3 of 4 fish for us on Sunday were hens including the 8 lb'er. Troller, we fished right outside the Atlantic City launch and trolled straight across to Poverty Rock, 'riggers set at 75 feet, we could not keep the fish off our lines.
