does anyone know what the situation will be this weekend at elliot with seafair going on? i'm hoping to get out sat. morning and don't know if the launch will be open or if it will be fishable with the ships in.

hopefully some more fish will be around. anyone headed that way or have any news?

Should be business as usual on Elliott. All the Seafair activities are on Lake WA. Just don't get to close the carrier group on the Seattle Waterfront. There are gun boats patrolling and they will chase you off if you get to close.

I had questions on that myself. Looked at the USCG website and 100 yards from ships is a red, shoot first zone and 500 yards from ships is a warning zone. Supposedly the Navy and USCG will be warning boaters off.
Easy, when I was out with you we did not go near where they will be moored did we? I don't seem to recall this. I will be looking for posts on how the fishing was....will determine whether I attempt to go out in my new boat this weekend or wait until next.

No, when we were out on Elliott we did not go where they are moored now. The fleet is usually moored right in front of Seahawks/Safeco stadium.

i suppose if they were to chase everyone within 500 yards off the ferry terminals, the stadiums heck a solid chunk of the pioneer sq/ 99 viaduct would be in trouble. wink that aircraft carrier is right there, it's pretty amazing to see. i work in a restaraunt on the waterfront and can't help starring down that way all day long.

on to fishing, anyone out there yet?

Mike, installing the fish finder today. Rod holders too. Downriggers may have to come a little later ( next week) as I do not have them yet....but they will be installed. Gonna take it out on Lake W this aftenoon to see how it runs. Can't wait... laugh

Maybe you should go to lake Samm and avoid the SeaFiar insanity. You can open your boat up and enjoy with less worry about the drunk boat drivers (at least not as many on lake Samm).
