I see where someone posted a report on this lake yesterday. For those who
haven't taken the hike in, it's not a fun one. Once you pass over the top and
begin hiking down to the lake the trail is cut into the side of the mountain and
only about one person wide.

I was up there in 1995 when I had a mountain goat permit and wanted to
fish the lake also. The part about the lake having lots of brook trout is true.
Those things are all over the lake.

On a later trip we did spot a big billy near the lake. We looked almost straight
down on him from a ridge top. If we shot him we'd have had to hike back
down to the car, drive thru Sumas and come back in on a BC logging road to
pick him up. It would also involve about a 100' scaling of a very steep dropoff.

My friend passed on the shot and by the time I'd gotten there the billy had
gone into the timber.

There are some big fish in the lake. Don't know what kind of trout they are, but
on an earlier goat scouting trip we could see fish swirling on the lake from 3/4 of
a mile away. Those were some good sized trout going after flying ants. We
figured they were ants as the swirls were out in the middle of the lake.
