TM,

I'd be up for a trip in mid-October when I can take my shotgun too. It would be prime leech time then.

You could get some duck feathers from me then for fly tying. Maybe even the second round of fly tying lessons.....

I got mid-September booked on Vancouver Island fishing Silvers off Campbell River. I could show for an anytime in October trip though. Then it's off to Redding Calif. and Eagle Lake.
Part of my plan to make LIFE just one big fishing trip. I thiK it would be fun to walk into one of those MORE secret lakes in the Desert Wildlife area too.

Zen - I used to hunt ducks, mostly on the west side. Gave it up when they charged more, lowered bag limits & gave us less area to hunt.

FF - I like your plan. I would certainly like to learn of other spots, walk in's fine.

Hope that we can all put something together.

Up to Mason Lake this weekend for a little R & R - perhaps some nivvie cutts from the ponds in the woods.

FF, Yes I agree with Micro Bum that the walk in lakes would be fun. Also lets keep on M.B about getting a 2wt. Zen can teach us along with you F.F some good flies to tie.

Mine is a 7'9", full flex Orvis. At first they feel like a toy but then.....I landed
a 8-9# Lahontin with it couple months ago and lots of 2-5# bows too.
I like it for chronomiding. Has great feel and won't snap light tippets so easy!

Heck now I don't know if I want to come. My lightest stick is a 9' 4wt. I feel out of place with such a big stick. But What the heck. I fish mostly rivers,so I feel that I have the need for bigger rods. :p

Old Man - Bring the 4 wt! I generally fish a bigger rod - 5 / 6 wt. I just wanted to get a lighter rig for some of the smaller streams. Don't let TM call you a meat fisherman with a rig heavier than a 2!

I don't worry about him. He sounds like all blow and no show. I also have a 7'6" 4wt. And I caught a 21" long steelhead with it. What a blast. Smaller rods are fun,and my main go to rod is a 5 wt. Love it. laugh
