Biggest mistake of Obama's Presidency is not to show the pics. Maybe someone should sit Obama down & have him watch the towers coming down and watch the jumpers - over & over & over again until he gets it.
Since when does the President have the authority to sensor? Since "this is not (who he thinks) we are?" THIS IS WHO WE ARE! What a hypocrite! I agree.....100% The pictures of those jumpers really got to me, too.

Its should be obvious the POTUS is watching the reaction in the middle east to dictate whether to release the photos. I truely expected that Bin Laden had made up a video to be released immediately upon his death stating either he was alive or that called his comrads to arms to continue the fight. The lack of either, along with no major uprisings, no overwhelming denial in the middle east, all lead to the decision to not release any video or pictures. The refusal to release the photos is nothing more than a reaction to the mood and weighing it against potential mood if released. Its been four days and everything is calm so continue down the same path. Seems to me that Obama and the Gov. are following good common sense. If things change, the decision can always be changed.
Fantasy is always better than reality. Revenge usually is a downer. Keeping the pictures hid leaves a little to our imagination. Probably a good thing politically. Watching Bin Laden fall dead instantly or looking like a wax figure, really will never be as satisying as what our mind can imagine. I remember a Romanian professor I had talking about the fall and demise of Nicolae Ceausescu, He relayed how he had heard that Ceausesu had curled up in a ball and started crying like a baby. True? Only those who were there really know. The story, however, was a lot more satisfying than if he had gone down in a fiery gun battle or was killed by a sniper and never knew what was coming. In the same way, hearing that Bin Laden was unarmed but saw it coming may be more satisying to us than the alternatives. I especially love some of the rumors that he was trying to surrender.
Oh, and Beck is an idiot!

Obama let go of that nose ring he has in the birthers and teabaggers for a brief moment by producing his birth ceritificate. Then, oh by the way, we killed Bin Laden and have proof but you won't see it. I've got ahold your nose ring again.

I gave my spiel on it on a different thread...it can be substantiated and still be interpreted in a very different way...like the Prez was letting the people he hired debate the issue, and wait to make an informed opinion, one informed by the opinions of his staff, rather than fly off the handle and do something precipitous without thinking about the possible ramifications, unlike his predecessor.
Either way, it looks to me like the whole operation turned out just fine, so trying to find fault with anyone involved is pretty fuckin stupid and partisan, if you ask me.

It makes me think of another Blackhawk raid - one that went terribly wrong.
The attempt to rescue our hostages from Iran had many similarities and ended with a helicopter malfunction. Had that raid worked it would very likely have dramatically changed U.S, history? Carter would have been reelected, Reagan would have left public life and . . ?
