Hey I was hunting on Kapowsin and when we came in to switch off the batteries, we talked to a fisherman.

Apparently a red wedding ring and worm right on the surface or even a few feet deep is just KILLING the bows, and even a coho is picked up every now and then (I believe its the Puyallup that runs into the lake).

One guy told me he had a limit in 1 1/2 hours. Not to shabby if you ask me.

Hunting was great to. Got myself a goose finally. laugh

Good Luck!

That coho is thanks to the Puyallup Indians. They raise them in net pens and let them go and they find their way into the outlet creek and eventally into the Puyallup and then find their way back when "nature calls"

The Green also has a naturally reproducing (native?) run of chums. Go up to Flaming Geyser in November and you will see them.

Freaked me out the first time I was at Kapowsin fishing from the bank and seen the water boiling about 15 feet our from the bank. Slowly moving along the bank towards me, goes past me and keeps going.
Was fishing off of Erickson's dock a couple weeks later and here comes the same thing. I hollered for the guy working there to come check it out.

He says "Oh, thats just a bunch of Coho smolts"

He then explained what the Puyallup's were up to.

This was probly at least 7 or 8 years ago.

Say what you want about the Indians but they're doing far more for bringing salmon back than the state ever thought of. eek

Yeah and if you look at the salmon university page, it states rather clearly that if it wasnt for the indians, there would be NO sockey fishing whatsoever right now.
