Thinking of heading over to Amercian Lake, the middle of next month. Any suggestions or tips on fishing this lake. Where would be the best place to launch, I've heard the resort is the safest as far as your vehicle being secure. Any other suggestions or tips would be most welcome. Thanks.

I have fished American a bunch. Don't worry about your vehicle at the WDFW launch. The Sheriff usually patrols (eats lunch) the launch pretty regularly.

Fish in front of the VA hospital on the other side of the lake and around the big island in the middle of the lake.

Be careful of the wind! American is really prone to wind and big waves and the wind will sneak up on you in a hurry.

What to use - One of your worm trolls.

I've always used the public access launch at the South end of the main lake (never had any problems). I start in front of the VA hospital, but will also troll around points of land (and island) at that end of the lake. Try the smaller lake for bass. Cast in close to shore near cover.
