Aaron,
I'd take any of them. I'd rather have a gl3, imx or steelhead series of course but we'll see.

Damn. Those are some nice offers. Wish I could pull the trigger on them but I just picked up a near flawless pre-shimano STR1025C GL2 after work. I know some of you may think it as sacrilegious to fish a rod like that but it screams "fish me" and I shall. Strike Zone. If you end up holding onto that 1025C IMX for a little while, I'll buy it for sure. The wife may let me around september.
Thanks everybody,
Drew

GL3 which sold to my neighbor last night. SZ Story of my life...thanks for the killer deal though. Would have bought it in a heartbeat but the wife is a tough banker and I had already just picked up that 1025c gl2. Love that rod though! Before that I had been drift fishing with a lami g1000 series that's about as sensitive as trying to feel a steelhead bite on a butt rod.

Unfortunately, Drew, I think you'll find that the G1000 Series Lami is more sensitive than a GL2, in spite of the price being about 1/3 the price of the GL2...
Fish on...

Todd On the contrary sir, I fished the G1000 for quite some time and gave it a chance. The only fish I hooked on it was a skunky Coho in mid February on a spinner. Go figure...A coho in Feb. Anyway that G1000 is about as sensitive as trying to F uck with 4 or 5 condoms on. I fished the GL2 the other night and was blown away at the sensitivity. And Luis, I'm a loomis guy, not a rod snob, just like you like your xmg50's, I like my loomis rods, only mine don't break like the xmg50's all the time. haha. Thank you, Drew

Remember Drew, is it the brand name that's going to catch you the fish? Maybe it's the sensitivity of the brand name or series of the rod. Or is it the power band on how you cast? Drift/spoon/spinner fish? The way the rod loads as the line gets stretched with a fish at the end of your line. I've fished almost every rod out there.... I bet you if you put the St. Croix avid 96mh next to a comparable Shimoomis steelhead series like the 9'8" 8-15 you probably couldn't tell the difference.
I'm not trying to argue what rod is the best, because in the long run it's all within you're personal preference....I'm just saying a factory loomis is a cheap rod with cheap as components! Same with Lamiglas! I can almost bet you that the St. Croix Avid 96mh is comparable to the Shamoomis steelhead series 9'8" 8-17 feel wise, but component wise???? St. Croix all the way holmeslice! Tho the St. Croix has a far superior warranty! Look at the expedite services on the companies these days! $100 Shamoomis $70 Lamiglass $60 St. Croix. Two winters ago fishin with Seastrike and Tyee Dog on the Hoh, we ended up playing chicken with a smart car sized rock and I ended up playing human pinball with Tyee Dog and the avid... Well the avid got crushed at the top section, obviously on user defect. I took the rod to OE, gave them $10 got the the rod back in 5 weeks from St. Croix NO QUESTIONS ASKED!
Drew, if I fished any rod being Original Loomis, Shamoomis, Lamiglas, St. Croix, Rainshadow, Sage, Allstar, Okuma, as much as I fish my XMG "rods" they would probably break just as much.... Graphite gets weak over time.... You know why I keep going to my XMG selection? Because the rod selection to size and weight are the BEST on the market! Not to mention that they're far more sensitive than any Shamoomis steelhead series, and LIGHTER! Also far CHEAPER!
And I'll say it again! And again! If I fished a steelhead series as hard as I my XMG customs they would be breaking as much if not more often!

Bantam - Have you even fished the new Steelhead Series from Loomis? Given your obvious disdain for anything Loomis, I highly doubt it. How then, can you say your XMG's are more sensitive? Guess what? I have owned and fished both XMG50's and the Loomis Steelhead Series. I can assure you that, while they are nice rods, the XMG50's are NOT any more sensitive than the Loomis Steelhead Series. Actually a slight edge to the Loomis in terms of sensitivity. In terms of breakage, your post above is the first time I have ever heard that "graphite gets weak over time." I have an IMX (the most fragile Loomis graphite other than GLX) that is 16 years old and I fish it hard every season - still going strong. I have heard of breakage issues with the XMG line. I know there were some design issues early on that Lami will fully admit. Believe they have corrected those. St Croix makes a great rod. If I am ever tempted to stray from Loomis, I would quickly look at their product. For now, though, Loomis quality and service cant be beat in my book. Good luck. NCD.

Thank you,
Drew Hmmmm.... Don't see any requests for opinions here. Wait, what's this? On the contrary sir, I fished the G1000 for quite some time and gave it a chance. The only fish I hooked on it was a skunky Coho in mid February on a spinner. Go figure...A coho in Feb. Anyway that G1000 is about as sensitive as trying to F uck with 4 or 5 condoms on. Thank you, Drew Oh he's formed his own opinion.... still no request for an opinion though. Guess we should just let the guy fish what he wants to fish. As Bantam say's.... I'm not trying to argue what rod is the best, because in the long run it's all within you're personal preference....
Yes it's all personal preference. Considering there's no way to state facts on something that's all opinion based, maybe we should continue to use this thread what it was originally supposed to be. a "wtb" thread. Cuz at this point the only facts given were as follow's: Drew wants a loomis drift rod. Unfortunately, Drew, I think you'll find that the G1000 Series Lami is more sensitive than a GL2, in spite of the price being about 1/3 the price of the GL2...
Fish on...
Todd Todd's attempt at a fact was wrong unfortunately. Good try though Todd. Cuz as you can see here: http://www.lamiglas.com/prod_indiv.php?groupid=14 Lamiglas' MSRP on G1000 series rods are not 1/3 the price of a GL2, in fact.... They're more expensive! Let's take the G1313 vs 1025C GL2 for example... Well G. Loomis' MSRP is $235 versus Lamiglas' $290.... Hmm.

MSRP on a Loomis = Retail at the store...MSRP on a Lamiglas does not equal retail at the store...but yeah, 1/3 the price was a bit of an exaggeration Fish on... Todd
