Totem Lake pond is a real sleeper if you can get a canoe in it. The floating islands have built up where the obvious launch is.... back when I fished it years ago it was loaded with black crappie and the largest bullfrogs I'd ever seen.

So.. which corner of the state would you prefer directions to?

The state bass/panfish guide offers good info.

I was talking about spring and summer. Directions to any of the lakes would be extremely helpful.

If you mention which town you live in it would make it easier to get some suggestions.

I've heard Silver Lake is loaded with crappie and this is a good time of year to fish for them... but I'm not up for that far of a drive for a day of cold fishing. This is the lake down by the Cowlitz.

To find a list of nearby lakes with the species of interest go to:
http://www.wa.gov/wdfw/outreach/fishing/warmwtr.htm

Clink on warmwater fish waters and then go the county of interest.

Out of way waters are likely to have nicer crappies than the heavily fished lakes (crappies are easy to over harvest and 10 inch plus fish are getting harder to find).

Just about any of the Potholes South of Moses Lake in the Potholes National Wildlife Refuge used to be excellant crappie holes or they used to be. I really can't see any reason why still shouldn't still be good fishing.

I live in Puyallup. Tanwax, Silver, and other lakes are all within driving distance. I wanted to know which of the other lakes you guys suggested. I've fished tanwax quiet a few times, but all I come across is perch and bass. Does any body know what side or area of the lake to fish tanwax for crappie or any of the other lakes? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I had someone tell me within the last month that now is the time to hit Silver Lake. Almost got me to the point of wanting to make that drive. If it wasn't for some close easy spots for me I'd be there testing things out.

I used to have a spot in Maryland that we fished this same time of year. Thought if the fishing was similar to that the method would be a jig under a bobber and it was easy fishing that way. Also very productive. We used to get bunches of crappie in less than 3 hours fishing.

Hey Driftin: Ohop Lake is near Puyallup and waz once the best
Crappie lake in W. Wash. I fished it years ago when 10-11" crappies
were numerous.
The population crashed after I left the area, but I've heard they
buried numerous brush "Reefs" in the lake and the Crappies have
now come back good. Might be worth a try if ya haven't already.
Haven't fished it myself, but that's what I've heard!

On the East Side, Monster Crappie still exist in Long Lake, an impoundment
of the Spokane River just West if Spokane. And a few still exist in Mar Don
Lake too!!
