This is a bit of a serous question, such as it can be here, so lets try this.
Federal spending as to what % of the GNP, how much is enough? It is my understanding Mr. Obama wants it someplace that with tax reform will cover the health care reform ( it is under funded big time ), stabilize with a modest expansion the social net, and infrastructure rebuild. That is A BIG HUNK OF MONEY!
The real left side of the D's want it advanced to continue social reform and additional wealth transfer AND THAT IS A REALLY REALLY BIG HUNK OF MONEY. R's want a smaller % with tax reform and limit the size of the federal operations AND AIN"T NO WAY UNLESS THE MILITARY BUDGET IS REALLY REDUCED. As a vet who volunteered twice for combat, bring em home. Not just Iraq & Afghanistan but Europe, Korea, ALL as we don't need to be running all over being the world cop and paying for it.
Anyway here is a interesting link and some info for comparisons. This big argument about the debt and yada yada yada it is really about the question of what % GNP is it going to be and the effect it will have on our future AND HOW WE PAY FOR IT or rather our children pay for it. As they say, fire at will!
http://www.culture-war.info/USFedDebt.html Just for the sake of it this link is to a debt counter. Look around it you can do the world, state, or fed debts and even project fed to 2015 at current spending.
