SEATTLE -- The Mariners landed two young power bats on Sunday in exchange for veteran left-handed starter Erik Bedard, who was dealt to the Red Sox in a three-way deal that also involved the Dodgers.

Sayonara Bedard, hope you do good for the Sox.

And if he does, may the Mariners take another long look at him in the off-season when he is a free agent.

Lets hope NOT.

Looks like they finally resigned to cutting bait, which was probably long overdue. When I first learned about the Fister trade, my initial thought was that they had squandered a proven pitcher for more unproven, minor league talent, but upon closer examination, it appears they did pretty well with both the Fister and Bedard trades.

Now we play the waiting game for a couple years while they develop the new talent. Can they get these guys ready for the big time before the stud arms they have left start heading for greener pastures via free agency?

Bedard....."Don't let the door hit you in the A$$ on your way out!"

A move made a year too late IMO.
