So.............How did everyone do who went out for the early trout opener?
I went to Burke Lake and Lake Lenore with a friend. We both got a serious helping of humble pie and got skunked!
So...pile it on....let me know where I should have gone or should have used for success yesterday! LOL!

Pulled and headed for Lenora and must have fished near you on the South end as I waz skunked for 4 hrs. Stopped at the North end hoglineon way home, and they were getting fish. Put in at noon. Started hammering big cutts on black chironomids near the rocks on the North end. Finished the day with 20+ to 5#

Fishnfellas -
You don't by chance have a blue Bucks Pontoon boat do you? I was fishing on the rocks with a buddy about the same time you were there. If so, are you the one that begged me not to throw rocks at you after your fifteenth hook-up and my 10th lure change?

We hit Potholes,Corral, and Blyth. We only got 4 fish between 4 of us. It was pretty slow overall,we saw alot of anglers, with no fish.

Hi John, Yeah that waz me riding the Blue Bucks Bag. Had my 2 0z. Orvis Blue Label working well on those Pig Lahontins. Kinda wore my wrists out toward the end though. The hot fly waz a #14 black chironomid with a irridescent blue Indian Seed Bead Thorax. They were sure hammering it for a while there weren't they! Then the dang wind came up.
How did you and your buddy do.....I thought you got a few??

Fishnfellas - I forgot to say that I was impressed to see you land five pounders on a two-weight rod! No...my friend and I were skunked all day. We had it coming I suppose, we are both used to very good success on Lenore. So much so that we thought (before Saturday) that we had the lake figured out. I guess that's why it's called fishing instead of catching. For what it's worth, I saw your frequent hooksets in my nightmarish dreams all night as I frantically, and unsuccessfully, tried to catch a fish at Lake Lenore in my dreams!!! I'll see you out there again soon . I might have to get some of those flies you are using too! You definitely had those fish dialed in. JK

Yeah John, Don't give up on Lenora.....lots of fish in there. Your only mistake waz the lures in that Cooooold water. The fish are not nearly as active early spring in 38 degree water and will only infrequently chase a lure. Later on you'd score good with those lures......though not as good as flyz. Lenora is a great fly lake.
I only fish Lenora early and late cause other Rainbow lakes open up in April and Canada in May. But I'll see ya there maybe if you fish again in March or Late Oct./Nov. I did real good after I got back from Cal. in November last year.

Bogey -
Glad to see I'm not a solo member in the opening weekend skunk club! The crowds at Burke and Quincy were incredible! I knew there would be a bunch of people there, but this was the most I remember seeing in a long time!
