I'm tentatively looking for one or two gunwhale clamping style downriggers mostly for baker lake. I know they aren't needed at all but it takes the guess work out. Let me know if you have anything. Manual operation only please.
Haters gonna hate,
Drew

Thanks,
Drew

When I was a kid and there used to be kokanee in Lake Sammamish, we used to fish for them...and we'd take this huge meat stick, like a halibut rod, and the reel was filled with wire line.
Stick a four pound ball on it, stick it in a rodholder...and voila, instant downrigger.
Worked just fine for us, fishing up to 60 or 70 feet deep (though 90% of our fishing was in 25 to 40 feet).
Fish on...
Todd

Thanks Matt,
I guess I was looking in the wrong spot...sporting goods. For some reason I didn't check the boat classifieds. Haha. I wonder what they mean when the say, "no brake" for that cannon one?

Another option is a "poor mans downrigger" its old school, and you don't see it that often, but it works just fine. Just use a spool of small diameter rope, put tape on it every 10 ft to indicate depth, and just attach it to a cannonball. Lower it over the side to the desired depth then use a 5 gallon bucket or flower pot to coil the line up as you raise it. Perfect for lake fishing.

Why dont you just buy some scotty laketrollers the 1071 is perfect for what your doing and its 75 bucks online or check this ad out for two. Only thing i dislike about it is that its 1ft per crank. http://cgi.ebay.com/Two-Scotty-1071-Lake...=item19c239a87c
