Just got an invite from my father to got to the Northwest Territories next summer for some different fishing than I'm used to here in the Pacific Northwest (Pike, Walleye and Lake Trout).

Has anyone heard anything about the Hanging Ice Lodge? That's our soon to be destination.

Pike fishing is a blast! they can be very aggressive.

Make sure to bring steel leaders. they are very toothy. and dont lip um.

I learned about not lipping some types of fish the first time I caught a walleye.....ouch!

So how do Pike fight?? Are they comparable to any fish out here?

pike fight good. not huge line takers and not frequent jumpers. my favorite thing is how aggressive they are and will hit a lure at the boat. be ready for a bite as you take the lure out of the water. swirl the bait around before you pull it and be ready to give line. then again my biggest is 5 lbs in montana, yours should be alot bigger.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like pike from 10 to 20 pounds are pretty common where I will be going. Even though the trip is a ways off.........I'm getting pretty excited!!
