As posted above. Off the dock use slip bobbers a chunk of worm and a tiny ball of powerbait. Run anywhere from 12-18 feet on most days. Usually can sit there all day but apparently not this weekend.

i fished deep lake both sat and sun off the dock for a jus a like 2 hours sat caught 3 and sunday for about 1 hour and caught 2, depth i was going was 6-7 feet.. anyone troll a triple teaser or dick nite when there out in there pontoon boats? that would be killer on the kokes for sure..i heard there are catfish in the lake, any truth to it, there pry yellow bellies, but better than nuthing.

Yeah there are cats. One old lucky lady caught a cat last year that I believe is said to have weighed in at like 4-5 pounds. Not to shabby if ya ask me.

Yeah, I should probably just start a new thread...but here is a report from yesterday at Deep:

Fished from a float tube from 11:30am to 1:00 pm. Caught 2, but only brought one to the boat. Missed a lot of strikes.

There were fish rising, but in fewer numbers than in the past few weeks. The weather is obviously messing with the fish, since there was a decent hatch on the whole time I was there.

**I will give away my "secrets" to catching fish yesterday, not much of a secret but I have been skunk-a-licious as of late so I am pumped to outsmart those little *******s. Tied on a 15-16 foot leader to my floating line...tipped with 7x. To the tippet I attached a size 10 wet fly with lots of hackle for some bouyancy, and then trailed a size 18 zug bug. All the takes were on the zug bug, I would guess it is mimicking the callibaetis nymphs that are resident to the lake.

ive only seen bullheads, but the lady said hers was a channel. you'll see her out there quite a bit in the summer with her grandkids if you are a regular at the lake.

trout, how do you rig up a trailing bug? would a wolly worm work for the first one? I'm new to the whole tying thing, but id sure like to get out there with the flyrod and catch SOMETHIN....

The idea with the dropper nymph is to give the fish options...the wet fly usually just gets their attention, and rides higher in the water column. Also, it lets you cover more ground as you troll/retrieve. Then fish at different depths will get a good look. Keep in mind, this method only works when the fish have been located close to the surface (i.e. you see rises or get bites near the surface).

A Woolley Worm will work fine for the wet fly. As far as attaching the dropper, the easiest way I have found is to tie a 12''-18" section of tippet to the shank of the wet fly and then tie the nymph to this leader. If you want to do it like the Brits, tie a third leader section to the nymph and attach another fly so you end up with a three-fly rig (check your regs for the lake though, some lakes are not cool with this).

This "dropper" method is how most of the smug river fisherman get so lucky on a regular basis, don't believe any fairtales you hear about them nailing em all on dries. I guess the sun shines on everyone once in a while, but in my experience the guys catching lots of fish are hedging their bets with lightning bugs and copper john's...
